The german Spitz

The German Spitz is a compact lively dog, don't let his size fool you, loves lots of exercise the more the better.

Mine love water, living by the coast and the New Forest, there are plenty of opportunities to go

swimming  but equally at home happy to sit quietly with you.

The German Spitz should be happy, outgoing with no signs of nervousness, they are willing & quick to learn, happy to do obedience, agility, even dancing to music, a very versatile breed, they love company, human or canine, but they can be quite verbal at times, this is because they were originally bred as watch dogs and a very good job they do of it too.

They come in two sizes the Klein 9 1/2 -11 1/2 inch. the Mittel 12 - 15 inches though sizes can and do vary

Coats are easy to care for, grooming weekly keeps their coat in good condition, moulting just twice a year.

A very clean breed, easy to house train and will groom themselves and each other.

The German Spitz is on average a healthy breed living a long life.

Eye testing has now become very important as there are a few cases of Retinal Dystrophy (RD) and progressive Retinal Atrophy (PRA)

It makes sense that when thinking of buying a a puppy that both parents have been eye tested and hold a clear certificate and the puppies have been litter screened.
